Locus Robotics

Location: 100 Fordham Road, Wilmington, MA

Size: 157,500 SF

Locus Robotics is a rapidly expanding warehouse robotics company that wanted to bring their multiple locations under one roof. This would allow them to streamline their processes, unify their workforce, and help leverage their growth across the globe.

An extensive site search led them to a development site where they were able expand their product development and production facility, while advancing their company name with highway visibility from I-93.

This was a full design-build project, with the interior designs being developed as the base building was under construction. In order to meet strict deadlines, the CPM team managed multiple stakeholders including; the client, landlord, general contractor, design, and multiple vendors. Their new headquarters consists of office, test lab, and demonstration space along with operations, production, and shipping areas. The space also features a 3,000 square foot Customer Experience Center that welcomes a worldwide customer base.

In addition to the design and build process, CPM facilitated an extensive code review with multiple consultancy firms to find a code compliant storage solution for Locus’ Lithium Ion and Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, which they use to power their warehouse robots. In order to store these at their new facility CPM managed review and coordination with the Locus R&D team, the town of Wilmington building inspectors, and the Wilmington Fire Department.
